About the Artist

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Michael Cole has since lived in Florida, Maine, central Pennsylvania, Oregon, and western Massachusetts. He is a professional aquatic biologist and holds a Ph.D. from Penn State in the field. Michael currently works as as a consultant with research interests in assessing the effects of pollution, habitat degradation, and altered hydrology on the ecology of rivers and streams. His passion for fishing and the aquatic world has steered both his choice of profession and art subject matter. Michael currently lives on the edge of the Berkshire Hills in western Massachusetts with his daughter, Sarah.
